Rebecca
The only thing harder than telling someone about myself is writing about myself. I’ll start with -
THE BASICS:
I’m one of six (yes six)children
I was born in Missouri, lived in Alaska and grew up in sunny Southern California.
I took my first airplane ride when I headed off to Loyola, Chicago for college. It was back to Loyola/Marymount, Los Angeles for my MBA.
I’m long married (33 years) to the funniest, smartest man (my opinion, of course).
My two sons are fabulous and grown. One aspires to a career in film, the other is dedicated to the theatre.
Our favorite family pasttime is watching zombie movies and eating junk food.
I LOVE:
This picture because it was taken by Hannah Levenson who was a sophomore in high school when we met. She is on her way to becoming a fabulous photographer.
Sewing (my mother taught me when I was eight years old), quilting .
Tennis. My favorite shot? The backhand volley
Food. Cooking. Entertaining. Traveling.
Creative people : writers, artists, musicians, poets, carpenters, teachers, filmmakers, bakers.
Funny things; funny people.
BITS & PIECES:
I started writing on a crazy dare. My first book was published. 23 more followed. Don’t ask how many rejections came along the way.
Mentoring writers of all ages is a passion. The youngest was 5 and the oldest 85.
I work with an incredible group of women who established The Young Writer’s Conference. What could be better than getting kids excited about writing?
Each year I teach a weekend class at the UCLA Writer’s Program. It leaves me energized.
EVERY DAY:
I try to see something new, meet someone new, create something new.
